These needles have a flat side ground on the shank to assure proper alignment with the point of the hook. (Intended only for machines designed for Flat Shank needles). This is the standard needle with a flat shank and regular sized eye for use with most home sewing machines and home sewer based embroidery and quilting machines.
HLX5 needles are compatible with following home based quilting machines.

HLx5 needle is made for sewing hard, thick or heavy materials. It will sew through multiple ply applications like quilting, jeans, applique or heavy embroidery. It is actually an industrial needle with a flat shank. If you are bending or breaking 15xs this needle could solve your problem.
